Best Hotels part 2

The Intercontinental Hotel

The Intercontinental Hotel is located right downtown Miami.  The canal it is sitting on happens to be where every movie films those iconic drone shots or you always see boats coming down.  One thing I learned after spending some time here is that one side of the river is downtown and the other side is Brickell.  Docked right outside the hotel is the Seafair charter yacht.

View from Biscyane Bay

The Intercontinental Hotel has a gorgeous facade that is still being refinished with stunning Italian marble but it may be most recognizable at night when the building lights up with a 19 story digital dancer you can see from Miami Beach.

This hotel features numerous bars and restaurants including a roof top pool bar and the renowned Toro Toro which happens to be featured in the list of best restaurants in Miami.  In addition you have Starbucks, Ole buffet and Bluewater restaurant.  Toro Toro and Bluewater offer beautiful views of Biscayne Bay especially during sunset.  Both restaurants also have a strict dress code so no shorts or casual clothes here.  But as always some great options are right outside and since you are downtown you don't have to look far.

If you are looking for more than food options the Intercontinental has you covered.  They have a great full service spa with wraps and mani/pedis and massages etc.  They also have your standard gym, valet, business center and more than 35 meeting rooms, FedEx center, car rentals, concierge, dry cleaning, private limo, pool and a park right across the street.  To make things better also across the street is the Metromover which is a free automated tram service to take you throughout downtown and Brickell.  One thing I have to knock them for is the lack of free WiFi.  Now you do get WiFi but it is part of the daily service charge but you can't opt out of that so I feel like they would do better to add that to the room prices and advertise more "free" things than offer cheaper rooms just for the optics.

All things aside this is a fantastic hotel, albiet slightly bougie, with a great location.
